Mr. Stacy Smallwood is a Research Associate with SCPHI. He is the Director of the Institute for HIV Prevention Leadership, an intensive capacity-building program for HIV prevention program managers working in community-based organizations. Previously, he worked as a Health Communications Specialist and ORISE Fellow for the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), a component of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There, he was the project manager of NIOSH's Stop Sticks Project, which targeted health care workers with education and information campaigns to reduce the incidence of occupational needlesticks and sharps injuries. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of South Carolina, where he is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior.
